As a professional fly fishing guide based in Wales I feel having valid insurance and a relevant qualification is very important.
As a fully licenced level 2 Angling Trust coach, I pay an annual fee which grants me full insurance, which includes a comprehensive £15 million public liability and professional indemnity package.
Not to mention having professionally trained coaching skills, which are essential to ensure that clients enjoy the best possible experience on the water.
The vast majority of fishing guides operating in Wales do not have valid insurance or even a qualification.
If they do claim to have a coaching badge, then this needs to be renewed annually or insurance will be invalid. You can check for Angling Trust coaches with valid insurance here.
